Who we are

LATITUDE is an international group of architects and urban planners committed to the development of architectural projects that improve quality of life in the communities where they settle.
As such, we deliver a new understanding on how architectural design and planning can emerge from the combination of on-site conditions and innovative ideas. Unlike the design of generic architecture found everywhere around the world, our goal is to design an architecture that resonates in harmony with actual on-site conditions, satisfying the needs and desires of its inhabitants.
Based in Madrid and Beijing, we provide architectural services for government institutions, business partners and various organizations. International aspirations and a rigorous working attitude allow us to produce transformative outcomes. We target sectors of social relevance such as work, residential and leisure spaces, as these are essential to increase satisfaction in our daily lives.
LATITUDE’s concept integrates empathy to understand different ways of life from different cultures, modern technology to design energy-efficient buildings, and a genuine passion for timeless architectural explorations.
We like to think that we deal with our projects in the same way that people deal with their own lives: with pragmatism and intuition, at any latitude.

Design Process

At LATITUDE, we approach every project by raising questions and analyzing key criteria to drive our design solution. We conceive the design process as a journey that continually absorbs the necessities of all parties and forms a coherent final vision. For us, the deep study and full understanding of actual conditions and requirements for the project will deliver all answers.
Following a step-by-step decision process, our architectural projects are the result of the observance of three main principles: Empathy, Energy and Emotion. These guiding principles are rooted in the understanding of local conditions such as site, function, culture and history. Even more, we fully observe these principles in our computer simulations, to help us design not only energy-efficient buildings, but buildings that take the environmental conditions of each territory as the first reason to drive the design process.
Such principles are further combined with timeless architectural endeavors such as space organization, and considerations on materiality and building image.
Each of our projects looks and performs differently, due to the specificity of particular circumstances. Yet, all of them share the same principles, making each and every case, a testimony of our company values.

In June 2010, Manuel N. Zornoza established LATITUDE in Barcelona. Soon after, the company would win its first architectural commission at the heart of the capital of China.
This opportunity was followed by the relocation of the young company to Beijing. During its formative years, the company developed projects ranging from exhibition centers to large-scale urban planning compounds such as the Daxing Exhibition Center, the Wangfujing Mixed-Use Center, and Baisha River City. Furthermore, a second office was opened in Madrid to become the design center for all of LATITUDE’s projects, while the Beijing office would remain active as the management center for projects developed in Asia.
This international condition set the basis for the design approach and ethics honored by the management of the company. Today, our projects are developed under a unique choral effort performed by a selected group of architects and managers with shared values, a force stronger than the sum of solitary efforts.
As a result, our buildings are deeply influenced by the conditions of the territory where they are settled, while the interiors function as a haven from urban life for their inhabitants.

What we do:

The successful design of a workspace relies on two essential factors: its readability and an intuitive understanding of its spatial organization. The workspace is an area where it is easy to see and find others. Users have the right technology to perform individual jobs, as well as access to daylight and adequate storage. The office building and its internal organization should facilitate the exchange of knowledge through peer-to-peer interaction, which in turn allows a better development of products and services.

The structure of the house is frequently changing depending on different factors such as modifications in social organization or the incorporation of technological progress into our domestic space.
Apartments with important communal spaces for interaction, rural houses, urban residences that integrate hotels, schools and commercial areas, allow infinite possibilities for evolution in the residential area.

Leisure is a very relevant aspect of our daily lives. Nowadays, leisure places emphasize the dimensions of perceived freedom and choice. These venues range from sport centers, shopping areas, holiday hotels, F&B businesses, to open spaces defined by the atmosphere and location where recreational and cultural activities take place.
These places often convey emotional states and conditions that facilitate enjoyment, and interaction with others.
